Alstom T&D India today said it has been picked to lead the smart grid pilot project by Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board. <\/p>\n
“The smart grid project will be located at the Kala Amb Industrial area of Himachal Pradesh in northern India and will serve over 1,500 consumers,” the company said in a statement, adding that this will be second of the 14 projects under Power Ministry’s flagship ‘Smart Grid pilot’ programme. <\/p>\n
The company will design, develop and implement an integrated set of smart grid applications, targeting power quality issues, managing peak demand and power outages, among others. <\/p>\n
“We are pleased to be the recipient of the second smart grid pilot project in the country. Over the last 15 years, the company has been delivering large-scale smart grid projects for India’s national grid through Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (Power Grid),” company’s Managing Director Rathin Basu said in the statement. <\/p>\n
In addition, the company has delivered several distribution projects for the state distribution system operators, he said. <\/p>\n
Alstom will lead this project, along with Genus Power Infrastructure and a few other OEM (original equipment manufacturer) equipment suppliers, the statement read. <\/p>\n
The Kala Amb smart grid pilot project will further strengthen the information technology system in place, to make the distribution of grid cost-effective, responsive and better engineered for reliability and self-healing operations, the company noted. <\/p>\n
The smart grid solution looks to enhance monitoring and automation of two distribution substations feeding Kala Amb. <\/p>\n
