GE on Wednesday said it has bagged a contract from the Shapoorji Pallonji Group (SP Group) to supply power generation equipment for the upcoming 220 mw power plant in the Bhola district of Bangladesh. <\/p>\n
This will be GE\u2019s second power plant in Bhola of the same capacity with the first being commissioned in 2015. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe Bhola power project will be an important milestone for the Shapoorji Pallonji Group in Bangladesh, contributing towards increasing the country\u2019s power generation capacity,\u201d said Mitesh Soni, business head – power business, Shapoorji Pallonji Group. <\/p>\n
The Bhola project is being developed by the SP Group as an independent power producer (IPP). The SP Group has signed a 22-year power purchase agreement with BPDB. The power plant will operate on duel-fuel technology using natural gas as the primary fuel and diesel as the back-up fuel and is expected to achieve commercial operations by December 2019. The project will result in supplying the equivalent power needed to provide electricity to 200,000 homes in Bangladesh. <\/p>\n
