The National Aviators Guild (NAG), the pilot body of embattled full-service carrier Jet Airways, has written a letter to the Ministry of Labour, flagging the issue of delayed salaries.
The NAG said in its letter that 87.5 per cent of the December 2018 salary, along with 100 per cent of the salary for January and February 2019 is pending.
“This situation is leading to extreme tension and frustration amongst our members, hardly an ideal situation for pilots in the cockpit. Monthly EMIs have to be met, school & college fees paid, along with medical bills of ageing parents etc. and each month members are left (a) juggling to meet these monthly commitments; & (b) worried about the future months as the salary arrears just keep building. All pleas to the management in this regard have fallen on deaf ears,” said the letter.
