CHENNAI: The decision of the National Highways Authority of India under the road transport ministry to file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Madras High Court order quashing land acquisition for the controversial Chennai-Salem highway has triggered outbursts from the DMK-led opposition.
The Madras High Court order, besides quashing the notification issued for land acquisition, observed that a public hearing ahead of implementation of any such project needs to be conducted before seeking prior environmental clearance.
