The Oreva Group on Monday submitted before a division bench of the Gujarat High Court that on March 14, it has deposited 50 per cent of interim compensation to the victims of Morbi bridge collapse that killed 135 persons and that it will deposit the second installment on or before April 11.
On February 22, the high court ordered the company to pay interim compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 2 lakh each to the 56 who were injured in the incident.
The Oreva Group (Ajanta Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd) was responsible for the operation and maintenance of the British-era bridge over the Machchhu river in Morbi that collapsed on October 30, 2022.
