On a day the prices of LPG cooking gas across all categories were hiked by Rs 25 per cylinder, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday attacked the government over the rising fuel prices and said that an amount of Rs 23 lakh crore has been earned in the last seven years by increasing prices of these commodities .
The rise in LPG price was the third straight increase in rates in less than two months.
The Congress leader said that the government was in panic over not being able to fulfil its promises and was surviving on fuel prices. “The day when the international crude oil prices rise to about $90-100, the situation will spiral out of control here,” he said.
