Kolkata: Open electric boxes and defunct street poles have turned into a nightmare for residents of Salt Lake. They fear anyone could get electrocuted during the rain if they are not taken care of immediately.
In some places, the lid of an electric box fixed with the poles has been left open. TOI on Tuesday found two such electric boxes with their lids open close to Susrut Eye Hospital’s main entrance gate. “There are chances of these damaged or defunct street poles turning into live electricity carriers during the rain,” said a commuter.
At a few places, defunct street poles are leaning precariously. One such pole was spotted on the median divider on the stretch connecting Tank 13 Island with Anindita.
