The government has approved FAME-II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India) scheme for promoting use of electric vehicles. The new scheme has been implemented from Apr 1, 2019 which will be valid for 3 years. Under the scheme, over the 3-year period, the government will provide incentives of about Rs 10,000 crore to OEM of electric vehicles for generating demand, to service providers for creating charging infrastructure, and for educating the public.
