MUMBAI: The Central Railway has stood first among all all zonal railways in non-fare revenue which during 2021-22 (up to December) is Rs 19 crore — 378% more than that of the corresponding period last year, chief spokesperson Shivaji Sutar announced on Friday.
“Digital cloak room, e-vehicle charging points, app based e-wheel chair, etc are some of the major initiatives of non-fare revenue,” Sutar said. “CR also had the highest fine collections for ticketless travel among all zonal railways. From April to December 2021, a total of 24.1 lakh cases were detected and a revenue of Rs.144.2 crore which is highest in terms of revenue among all zonal railways,” he said.
In parcel services, railways retained the top position once again this year, he added.
