The CBI has filed a closure report in one of the four cases linked to a leasing contract involving the then public carrier, Air India, potentially ensuring a clean chit for Praful Patel, who headed the civil aviation ministry during the UPA regime.
The agency has been probing alleged irregularities and misuse of office in leasing of aircraft for the national carrier. Several officials of the civil aviation ministry and Air India were investigated in the cases.
