NEW DELHI: The government has cleared the appointment of Captain RS Sandhu as Air India’s director (operations). Prime Minister Modi-headed appointments committee of the cabinet on Friday issued a note saying it has “approved the appointment of Captain Rajwinder Singh Sandhu, ED (operations), AI as director (operations) AI for a period of three years from the date of joining, or until divestment of AI or upto the date of superannuation, or until further orders whichever is the earliest.”
The crucial post of director operations had been vacant since this March as previous incumbent Captain Amitabh Singh had superannuated in February end.
Captain Sandhu in among the key members spearheading the Vande Bharat Mission that has seen AI operate repatriations flights across the world, including to several places for the first time ever by it like Auckland and Vancouver.
