KOLKATA: Chastened by the pile-up of dues after the Kingfisher Airlines crash in 2013 when Airports Authority of India (AAI) waited for several months expecting the airlines’ revival that never happened, it has started taking back facilities leased to Jet Airways at Kolkata airport. The airline suspended all operations on April 17, 2019, due to funds crunch.
“We did an inventory of space occupied by Jet inside the terminal building and on airside, including equipment like passenger coaches, step ladders, luggage containers and tractors. Thereafter, we asked Jet Airways to vacate the place. They have already vacated the ticket counters and check-in counters. The remaining spaces will be vacated within a week,” Kolkata airport director Kaushik Bhattacharjee said.
