Supreme Court order to restore PPA discipline

The Supreme Court in its October 25, 2017 ruling said that electricity regulators’ “inherent powers” are circumscribed and can’t be used “to deal with any matter which is otherwise specifically provided under the Electricity Act 2003.” It further said, GERC’s Conduct of Business Regulation 80 “is akin to Section 151 of the Code of Civil procedure (CPC) with respect to the procedure to be followed by the Commission in deciding the cause before it.
