Jet Airways defers Boeing 737 Max deliveries on payment issues

Jet Airways has been forced to defer some of its Boeing 737 Max deliveries due to payment issues to its lessors, said two people in the know.

India’s second biggest airline was supposed to get three of the planes in December and three more in January.

“Boeing has made the deliveries but they are stuck due to non-payment to lessors,” said one of the people cited above.

The airline has also considerable overdues to the Mumbai airport, its base in India, said a third person in the know.

“Normally there are bank guarantees against these dues but those too are close to being exhausted,” said the person cited above.
