Hydro Power

Presently, India imports 1,542 MW power from four hydro stations located in Bhutan – Tala (1,020 MW), Chukha (336 MW), Kurichhu (60 MW), and Dagachu (126 MW) – through two companies: Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) and Dagachu Hydro Power Corporation (DHPC).

Majority of the power imported from Bhutan is under bilateral agreement between RGoB and government of India. The tariff is negotiated by the governments to ensure supply of cheap imported power to the consumers.
