Visakhapatnam district witnessed a gruesome road accident in the recent times, when three teenagers on a bike were hit by a lorry and were dragged on NH-16 for about three km at S Rayavaram area, on February 12. The accident has once again brought to light about the dangerous dark spots on NH-16 between Anakapalle to Payakaraopeta stretch.
This was not for the first time that such an accident had occurred on this stretch, especially in the Nakkapalle and Yelamanchilli circles. On April 10, 2016, eleven people, including four children, were killed in the accident involving a car, a motorcycle and a truck near Nakkapalli. Since then, the district has seen a steady rise in accidents in this region.
