The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in its report of July 18, 2016 has stated that the actual savings on LPG subsidy due to decrease in off-take of subsidised cylinders by consumers is Rs 1,763.93 crore in 2015-16, while the major part of reduction by Rs 21,552.28 crore in subsidy in 2015-16 is due to sharp fall in crude prices.
